Bibliophiles and book hunters had
their hands full of books once again as the 33rd ManilaInternational Book Fair (MIBF) was held at the SMX Convention Center from
September 12 – 16, 2012. It has turned into an annual tradition for Filipinos
as said by the organizer, PrimeTrade Asia, Inc. The organizers also consider
this event as one of the longest-running book fairs in Asia. More than 100
exhibitors joined this year’s undertaking. Apart from the exhibitors, there
were a number of lectures, workshops and forums spread out by different
institutions and organizations. Storytelling sessions and contest were also
added in for the children.
Librarians, on one hand, were given different
options in selecting possible books for acquisition for their library
collection. Book enthusiasts, on the other hand, simply enjoyed affordable and available
books everywhere.
The organizers may want to expand
media mileage in the next MIBF for them to increase partners and supporters,
and extend the benefits of such event to a wider audience.
